Music Composer

Alisa Sargsyan is an Armenian-American composer whose music bridges lyrical expressiveness with structural clarity, drawing on Armenian melodic and rhythmic traditions within a contemporary harmonic language.
Born into a family of professional musicians in Armenia, she began her musical training in Yerevan and studied music composition at the Yerevan State Conservatory, graduating magna cum laude.
Alisa continued her compositional studies in the United States at the University of Washington, where she worked with composers Joël-François Durand and Huck Hodge. Her works have been commissioned and performed internationally in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, Russia, Armenia, and Georgia.
Collaboration is central to her creative practice, and her compositions frequently engage with dance, visual art, and literature. Her ballet "The Little Prince", based on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s novella, was commissioned by the Karin Kirkland School of Dance and premiered at the Meydenbauer Theater in Bellevue, Washington.
Alisa’s work has received international recognition, including prizes from the Amadeus Composers Competition, the Juniors Assembly of Arts, and the Benjamin Britten Composers Competition.
